Fresh Fig Dessert Pizza
1 18 oz. package prepared sugar cookie dough
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1/4 C. mascarpone or sour cream
1 egg
1 pound firm, ripe fresh figs (about 8 large), quartered
1/4 C. currant or apple jelly
2 t. fresh lemon juice
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Slice and place the cookie dough in a single layer on a 12-inch pizza pan. Allow to stand for a few minutes at room temperature until softened. Flour hands generously and press dough slices together evenly to about 1/4 inch thick, leaving 1/2-inch raised edges all around. Bake at 325°F for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool.
Combine cream cheese, mascarpone and egg in a small bowl. Beat until smooth. Spread evenly over crust except on edges. Bake 15 to 20 minutes or until filling is set and lightly browned. Cool.
Just before serving, arrange fig quarters on top. Melt jelly with lemon juice in a small saucepan over low heat and brush onto figs. Cut into wedges.
Makes 8 servings.
What does fig taste like? I have a recipe for a fresh fig pizza desert and.....?
A fig taste kind of like an apple and a pear mixed together. Have you ever had a Fig Newton cookie? My mother has a couple of fig trees in her yard and she makes fig preserves when they are in season. If you want to get the taste of them before you go through the expense and time of making this dish, go to the store and buy a fig and taste it for yourself. Good luck and I hope that you like them.
A small note to you: You could substitute the fig with another fruit if you like. That recipe sounds good and if you aren't sure about the figs, use apples, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or any combination.

Why did Jesus kill a fig tree for not producing figs out of season?

Fig tree in New Jersey.. help?
We planted a fig tree in South Jersey. We cover it from the end of November until May. From May and throughout the summer a great number of figs START growing but they don't ripen quickly. As a result we only get a handful of figs and the rest rot when it gets cold. Is there any way to speed up the growing time? Other people get figs (in our area) why can't we? We let the bush get HUGE and out of control? Would pruning it during the season help? We usually cut it to nothing before the frost. Thanks for any info.

He even walked all the way to a fig tree thinking that he was going to get some ripe figs to eat, but when he got to the tree... there were no figs because it was not even the right season for figs!!! So he cursed the fig tree so badly that the poor innocent fig tree withered and died on the spot! Would Jesus write down this achievement in his resume? Fig Tree as a Weed?
In an area near my front door, I used to have a ficus tree that we took out because it got too big. There are still geraniums in the same area.
Last year, a fig tree started growing there, and we did not plant it! I just read that a fig tree's root system can spread as much as 50 feet, so I'm concerned it's growing under the house. So far this season, the tree (bush) has gone from about a foot in height and diameter to about 3 feet in height and 5 feet in diameter.
Has anyone had this occur, specifically with fig trees, and what did you do? Should I try to remove it now, or is this something that I'll have to do repeatedly? The fig tree is a much larger tree than a ficus (and a fig is a type of ficus) and I really don't want it growing here.

Keep cutting back the tree, letting it get to 3 feet before cutting allows it to regain strength. By continually chopping it back when still very small, you wear out the stored food energy. You can also try painting the cuts with Roundup with each cutting, but I doubt that will be successful due to Ficus' latex ooozing.........but it might work. The Roundup must be the undiluted formula not the ready to spray. And you must paint it on, not spray least you get it on nearby plants...and frankly you couldn't spray the thick mixture.
By the end of the growing season you can try digging out whatever stump remains. I wouldn't be surprised if the plant continues to reappear from time to time. Just keep after it.
As for growing under the house, probably not. Roots need oxygen so under the house isn't an option. Normally they grow around the house foundation where condensation is present as well as surface oxygen.

Reply:In the Matthew account you mentions, the Romans taxed the tree of the Jew. The jew couldn't afford to keep the tree if it did not produce and they would kill it.
The Matt 21 parable is directed to the Jewish nation as shown in verse 43.
They did not produce fine spiritual fruitage and is rebuked.
They same will happen to false christian religions that do not produce the spiritual fruit Jesus requires.

Now go read those scriptures you mentioned keeping that in mind...People who are supposed to be walking with the Most High and are being hateful...their fig trees will not thrive.
Those same scriptures are applicable to today's hateful Christians.
psalms 150:33 Smitted their fig trees
Jeremiah 24:2-3 naughty figs couldn't be eaten
Jeremiah 29:17-18 make them like vile figs
Hosea 2:12 destroy vines and fig trees
Math 21:19 No figs, so kills the tree!
In every one of these verses, God is destroying, or rebuking FIGS AND FIG TREES! I'm serious.
No more fig newtons for me!

Reply:In the Matthew account you mentions, the Romans taxed the tree of the Jew. The jew couldn't afford to keep the tree if it did not produce and they would kill it.
The Matt 21 parable is directed to the Jewish nation as shown in verse 43.
They did not produce fine spiritual fruitage and is rebuked.
They same will happen to false christian religions that do not produce the spiritual fruit Jesus requires.
Mat 21:43 That is why I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce fruit for it
