When did Jacobs change the design of Fig Rolls?

Jacobs Fig Rolls used to have a ripple on the top now its smooth and more biscuit like. I feel cheated!

When did Jacobs change the design of Fig Rolls?
I don't ever remember Jacob's fig roles having ridges, but most other makes do.

I've been eating Jacobs fig roles regularly for nearly 20 years and do not like other makes I feel they are cheap alternatives.
Reply:now they have changed the cow, present cows don't have nipples.
Reply:I agree. Maybe if we get enough people to agree with this, we can get the ripples back.
Reply:maybe their ripple machine broke down,
Reply:Funnily enough I am just eating a fig roll (not Jacobs)..so what I would say ..is just keep on feeling cheated because Jacobs are the best, ripples or no *ripples. Good job I typed *r and not *n, or I would have received yet another violation notice..no doubt.
Reply:They have to go and spoil everything don't they?

Jacobs have obviously become fashion victims!!!!!

What do you think Jesus saw Nathanael doing under the fig tree?

John 1:47-49, "Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I SAW THEE. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel."

Jesus was the Word made flesh, and I can't help but believe that Nathanael was praying to His God under that fig tree, and His God "saw" him. I also believe that Nathanael knew that God had heard him, and that is the reason for his reaction.

Do any of you have any thoughts on this?

What do you think Jesus saw Nathanael doing under the fig tree?
I think Nathaniel was a doubter, a cynic, and probably at the end of his rope of belief in anything good coming out of towns called Nazareth.

I think Jesus uses such people, not the prayer warriors, but the cynics, that are at the end of their rope. It's then that revelation takes hold in people's hearts and they serve with undying devotion.

I think Jesus brings us all to the point of disbelief and cynicism in the world, shows us a true revelation and turns our thinking 180 degrees.
Reply:No guile suggests speaking no subtilty, deceit, or craft; And concerning an Israelite that is something to behold, indeed.

Being under the fig tree (Israel) speaks of being under Law, which Nathanael perceived the Son of God was; and therefore calls him the King of Israel.

But upon being flattered with Rabbi, Son of God, and King of Israel, for having insight about Nathanael, Jesus says hey, law insight is nothing to believe in, wait till you see greater things than these, such as grace and truth, which makes law pale in comparison, when the two glories are compared.

For according to Solomon the wise guy, also King of Israel at it's greatest and most peaceful time, law was all vanity and vexation of spirit; But understanding is the ultimate thing to get, and when it's embraced the result is thy head is crowned, with grace glory, the true glory of the only true God.

His Grace--%26gt; Mercy ---%26gt; Peace with you all. Amen.
Reply:He was praying and Jesus knew he was there.
Reply:You missed Jesus point!

He was showing that he was present in spiritual form prior to his birth with Mary.
Reply:I think it was probably a manifestation of the spiritual gift known as the "Word of Knowledge".

We see this operative in Jesus often. Another example is the Samaritan woman by the well of Sychar. Perhaps Nathanael had just been praying to God to send Messiah. I like what followed when Jesus alluded to Jacob's vision of a ladder with angels ascending and descending and stated in effect "I am that ladder between heaven and earth" "I am that "Bethel", or "House of God".
Reply:He was praying for the Messiah to come..

there was no guile in him...

he loved God Almighty with his whole heart...

his prayer was answered.

He was the first to recognize Jesus as the Savior.
Reply:I never considered that before, but that sounds very possible.

Well done!

Oatmeal cookies cost 45 cents each and fig bars cost 30 cents each. If the group spent $7.35 how many oatmeal?

cookies were purchased if they numbered 7 less than the number of fig bars purchased

Oatmeal cookies cost 45 cents each and fig bars cost 30 cents each. If the group spent $7.35 how many oatmeal?
.45(x-7) +.30x = 7.35 .45x-3.15+.30x = 7.35

10.50 = .75x x=14 So the group bought 7 oatmeal and 14 fig bars.
Reply:Let x= #oatmeal

Let y = #figbars

Then we know y = x+7 (seven more figs)

7.35 = 0.45 x + 0.30 y ===%26gt; plug in y=x+7 from above

7.35 = 0.45x + 0.30 (x+7) ===%26gt; now solve

7.35 = 0.45x +0.30x +7*0.30

7.35 = 0.75x + 2.10

5.25 = 0.75 x

x = 7

plug in y = x+7 = 7+7 = 14

7 oatmeal cookies and 14 fig bars

=] YUM!

check 7@45 and 14@30 = 315 +420 = 725 =] yep!

How do you get rid of a fig tree?

We have a fig tree that we didnt plant and we have cut it out many times and it keeps coming back every year! It comes up from under the porch(its under the concrete and i cut it under the dirt) But it still comes back. Is there a chemicle that will end this thing?

How do you get rid of a fig tree?
I have a mulberry doing the same thing, I feel your pain!

Two choices: cut the plant back whenever you see it! Don't let it send up enough leaves to refeed the root system. It would take several years, but it would eventually die out.

Second, chemical intervention. This is a bit trickier. Applying chemicals at the wrong time will be useless. So you have to let the plant grow some each year, but that's not to say you can't be keeping it "small" with pruning. Then about June or so spray it with a fortified Roundup solution. This is where you take a gallon of warm water, even hot is fine, and slowly stir in the fertilizer ammonium sulfate (21-0-0). It's very common and easily found. Keep pouring and stirring until no more fertilizer will dissolve. You now have a saturated solution. Now strain this (in case there's a bit of undissolved fertilizer in the bottom and add the appropriate amount of Roundup CONCENTRATE, not the premixed stuff, for a gallon of water and then 2-3 drops of dish washing liquid. Now spray your fig! Every 3-4 weeks make up new solutions and spray again. You can't use this early in the season because the plant is not taking in material for storage. You have to wait until it is in the storage mode for the chemical to reach the roots.

Will this work totally in one year? Probably not, but you'll have made a big dent. Do it again next year.

Like you my mulberry is hiding and only visible when it is strong enough to push past it's companion plant. By the time I see it (and remember it is there) it has begun storing energy. However, with a year of Roundup applications, it is not a happy camper at all....when usually by now it is robust. So maybe next year I can say complete success!

In order for the fig tree not to repeatedly sprout, it has to be completely removed at the roots.

Toxic chemicals are no guarantee that it will not return.

If it is in an inaccessible area, you can hire someone to dig it up by the roots.

I sincerely hope this helps you.

What’s the meaning of the parable of the sterile fig tree?

Luke 13:6Then he told this parable: "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. 7So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?' 8" 'Sir,' the man replied, 'leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig around it and fertilize it. 9If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.' "

Reply:remembering this is a parable and not history or exacting prophesy, the following is my opinion.

Jesus was talking to Jews and His targets were the Jewish leadership. These had not delivered spiritual growth to their nation. Jesus would be the gardener who asked for a years delay in axing them. He did fertize and nurture and they did not respond thus I believe they have been cut off. According to Paul it may be temporary, as they may be grafted back in

The Jews knew He was talking to them note their reaction

It was God himself who invested thousands of years into the cultivation of his chosen people, only to receive little or no fruit for his efforts.

Taking a Cutting of a Ficus Fig Plant?

I have a Ficus fig plant indoor, I want to take a cutting of this plant to try and grow another. How do I do this and where to I cut above a leaf or below???

Taking a Cutting of a Ficus Fig Plant?
Select the length that you want ----- cut halfway through a node { that's where the leaves emerge } after removing the leaves ------ place a tiny pebble in the cut ------- dust with rooting compound and then surround the area with sphagnum moss soaking wet ----- enclose it all in a plastic bag and tie it up and in a few months roots will have formed. Cut the cutting off and pot up ---voila.
Reply:You should cut a mature stem.Cut the bottom of the stem a little side way.You should cut it about 20cm and pull out some of the leaves and all of the flower buds on the stem.Dip it in water then dip it in a root growth fertiliser.Finally,you can plant the plant in the pot.
Reply:As an experiment about 4 years ago, I sliced a branch of on an angle, below a leaf. Stripped the leaves off about 12" up, put it in potting soil and kept it in the bathroom. We kept the soil moist. When I checked it after a couple of months it did have roots. It is now nearly 6' tall.

Please explain your answers because I don't understand this at all. Thanks!

Determine the direction of B for each case in Fig. 20-51, where F represents the force on a positively charged
the force is determined by the VECTOR CROSS product V X B. That is, the direction of the force is determined by the Right-Hand Rule ( move fingers from v to B and the thumb points in the direction of F )

In (a) the v is to the left and the force is outward from the paper so the B field is down in the plane of the paper

In (b) the velocity is in the plane and to the right and the force is in the plane and up so B is pointed INTO the paper.

In (c) the velocity is into the paper and the force is in the plane and down so B is in the plane and to the right.

How do you prevent a cut fig tree branch from regrowing?

Neigbhor has fig tree that is planted right against our property fence. There is one branch that grows into a yard and pushes against the fence. A series of windy days would probably cause the fence to eventually break. Each time I cut the branch, it grows back bigger and heavier. I've contacted that property manager (it's a rental house), but he doesn't seem to think it's an issue. Anyways, does anyone know what I could do to prevent that one branch from regrowing?

How do you prevent a cut fig tree branch from regrowing?
Cut the limb at the main trunk of the bush.Cut it flush,paint with prunning paint.
Reply:pruning spray. get it from any lowes, ace places like that. its a thick black kind of tar. also seals the cut so bugs, fungus and dissease can not get in.
Reply:you are wasting ur time and money using pruning paint... studies have shown no good reason to use it... if it is a fresh cut on a dry day... diseases won't get in.... bugs don't use it as an entry hole if its clean...

now... with figs... the trick is to cut close to the main trunk... but leave about a half inch... and just keep cutting it back... go take a look see about once a week to make sure it doesn't sucker...

thats how u do it RIGHT.... do what u will though i don't know why you wouldn't want a fig... must just be in my blood though...
Reply:Brush some paint on the stump after it's cut.

You can also use tar. It will prevent new growth at that location and also protect the tree from bugs entering into the cut.
Reply:some figs can be eaten and some not .. check with garden dept, why not enjoy the figs, let it grow, enjoy the shade, have picnic/tea party under the tree when it grows, invite the neighbor too, instead of allowing your fence to break down with weight, you cut the part of the fence and give branch a support under it so that it grows upward...
Reply:Maybe some vagrant drifter with a chain saw might come ambling through town looking for a bottle of Jack Daniels and on his ambling walk, while everyone is at work he might just cut the entire tree down! Wouldn't that be horrible??

How to care for a weeping fig?

I found a big abandoned weeping fig in a pot on it's side outside my flat! I've brought it inside, so um, I how do I look after it please? What particular conditions do they like? I'm not very good wih plants.

How to care for a weeping fig?
depends which variety you have;weeping fig-ficus benjamina-prefers moderate light-not direct sunlight.shaded conditions suit it best.A warm temperature,with lots of ambient moisture-a tray of pebbles in water is a good idea-to stand it on.To grow it,a loam mixture of peat %26amp; soil,with weak feed is best.You can propogate by rooting cuttings(taken during the growing season)ia peat/sand mixture,and some leaves will fall off even a newly-bought plant.keep the glossy leaves clean with leaf-shine wipes.Good Luck.!!!P.S; be warned-it can grow to 2 metres tall!!
Reply:give it some tissues
Reply:Tell it to stop crying.....give it a box of Kleenex...

Mark 11:12-14. Questions on Jesus and the fig tree. Can anyone makes some sense of this please?

Hi I am reading the New Testament at the moment. I have read the above passage about Jesus and the fig tree. Can anyone explain this one please. Is this story supposed to be taken literally?

The points I have are as follows

1/ Why was Jesus looking for figs out of season?

2/ Did the tree wither immediately or overnight? (Matthew 21:18-22 Jesus condemns the tree and it withers on the spot. Mark 11:20-21 the tree is not withered until the next day)

3/ Did Jesus come across this tree and curse it before going to the temple and turning over the tables or afterwards? Matthew has it as afterwards, Mark has it as before.

4/ Is this mentioned in Luke or John? I couldn't find it.

6/ What is the whole point of the story? It seems to be that Jesus is saying if you have faith you can do anything and all your prayers get answered. Was he using his faith to kill a tree because he was angry and to show off his power? Are *all* our prayers answered?

Thanks for answering

Mark 11:12-14. Questions on Jesus and the fig tree. Can anyone makes some sense of this please?
The bible claims two accounts of the incident and neither agrees on the order of the events. As to what the stories purpose was...scripturally it refers back to this..

"I will take away their harvest, declares the LORD. There will be no grapes on the vine. There will be no figs on the tree, and their leaves will wither. What I have given them will be taken from them." (Jeremiah 8:13 NIV)

His disappointment with the fig tree was his metaphorical parable of his disappointment with Israel.
Reply:its refering to us

jesus was saying that we cant be part time christians. we know that the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace patience goodness, kindness, gentleness and self control.

but hes saying that we cant act out of character just because of the natural circumstances. Our purpose stands fast no matter what. If we dont live for Him he doesnt bless us with abundance and our lives dont go as planned (like the tree)
Reply:There are some commentaries that have been written about that event and it's possible meanings or correlations to the nation of Israel.

30When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.

31So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.

32Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

2.) Mark 11:20

And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
Reply:Christians must bear fruit or they are cursed. Bearing fruit comes from reading the Bible and praying. We should seek the baptism that Jesus preached (fire and power). Read the book of Acts. When the Holy Spirit lives inside you and you listen and obey him, you bear fruit.

Figs were out of season. The tree "spoke" to him saying it had figs (because it had leaves). He knew the tree would not bear fruit. There was a period of time between the cursing and the disciples noticed the tree was withered.
Reply:There are basically two crops of figs produced annually by the trees; the first ripe figs, or early figs which mature in June or early July (Isaiah 28:4; Jeremiah 24:2; Hosea 9;10) and the later figs, which make up the main crop, generally from August forward.

About February, the first fruit buds appear on the branches, preceding the leaves by about two months. Leaves usually don't show up until the final part of April or May. Matthew 24:32. So if the tree is in full leaf, it should also be bearing fruit.

The tree that Jesus cursed seems to have been abnormally early with leaves (it was Nisan 10 of the year 33). There was sound basis, then, for thinking it might also have unseasonably early fruit. The tree having nothing but leaves showed it was not going to produce any crop. It was, therefore, deceptive. (It must also be remembered that trees in Israel were taxed, so an unproductive tree not only failed to produce a crop, it unnecessarily cost the owner money). Jesus cursed it as unproductive, causing it to wither.

Fig trees were frequently used in prophecy; which is understandable considering the prominence it had in the agricultural lives of the people. It was vital to the food supply and hence a failed crop was calamitous. The nation of Israel was likened to two kinds of figs. Jeremiah 24:1-10.

Compare Matthew 7:19, Matthew 3;10; Matthew 13:6-9. Once you have read those, compare them with the pointed illustration of Matthew 21:33-46. Pay particular attention to verses 43 and 45 for the identification of the fig tree and the point of the story. A particular group was going to be rejected, cut down for its lack of productivity. Another nation would be given the opportunity to produce the fruitage - the Christian nation, the Israel of God. So the illustration and the event have both first century application and modern application.

Hannah J Paul
Reply:He caught sight of the tree, maybe he would have been lucky. He feels as if the leaves are early, the figs might be early too, but he is disappointed. The leaves on the fig tree have given it a deceptive appearance.

Afterwards, he goes to the temple and overturns the tables.

Jesus used this illustration to illustrate the bad spiritual state of the nation. the jewish nation was like an unproductive fig tree because it had a deceptive outward appearance, it didn't produce "godly foliage" and was rejected by Him. The nexy day after he cursed it signified the rejection of the jews as his chosen ppl. :]
Reply:The point of the story is that if Jesus finds us having no fruit to show Him when He comes, then we, like the fig tree will wither up and die. As Christians, we are given the truth and this truth is supposed to change not only our lives but those around us. That's why we are told to be perfect and holy in our sphere as God is perfect and holy in His sphere.

Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Lev 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

1Pe 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

1Pe 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy

"It was not the season for ripe figs, except in certain localities; and on the highlands about Jerusalem it might truly be said, "The time of figs was not yet." But in the orchard to which Jesus came, one tree appeared to be in advance of all the others. It was already covered with leaves. It is the nature of the fig tree that before the leaves open, the growing fruit appears. Therefore this tree in full leaf gave promise of well-developed fruit. But its appearance was deceptive. Upon searching its branches, from the lowest bough to the topmost twig, Jesus found "nothing but leaves." It was a mass of pretentious foliage, nothing more." {Desire of Ages 58}

I used to live in a town where a man had 2 fig trees and it was the strangest thing to see fruit on the tree but no leaves. So I know that what is said in the above Bible commentary is true. And btw, Jesus cursed the tree on that day but it was withered by the next.
Reply:Good morning,

I have often wondered about the meaning of this incident, and you have nudged me toward thinking some more about it.

Two or three things before approaching this:

1) The Manifestation of God is sent by the Creator. If you accept as much as that, 'miracles' should be of relative importance to you. The Creator can do with His Creation whatever he pleases.

2) Corollary to 1): whether or not the miraculous incidents related in the Bible are all literally true is not an interesting question, and the answer to such a question, should one ever be forthcoming, can have no incidence or effect on your spiritual condition. The point of the miracles being related to us through the Bible is educational. Think of the 'miracles' as parables that were conveyed through actions, or reported as such... the point is for the seeker to reflect, and search for the truth, as you are doing.

3) The Manifestation of God performs miracles as a special grace to those who are present to witness or experience them. Since you are perusing Scripture so carefully, take note of any time Jesus referred to His miracles to convince people of His divine station!

So what about those friggin figs, already?

I think I see something, but I'm re-reading the references... and will write to you again soon.

Thanks!

(Later) The previous answerers have covered the issue well w.r.t. the 'deceptively green foliage' and the aging Mosaic civilization. As the Jewish establishment of the time was orderly and prosperous but spiritually sterile, it rejected the Manifestation. 'It was not the season' -the prescribed period for the dispensation of Moses was past, and was not to be renewed, but utterly replaced by the dispensation of Jesus Christ.

The 'curse' that befell the people for rejecting Him is like the curse a sick man can bring down upon himself by refusing the medecine prescribed by a wise and loving physician. It would be wrong-headed to see this the other way around -as the Creator cursing part of His Creation.
Reply:Why did Jesus curse that tree since, as Mark explains, “it was not the season of figs”? Well, when a fig tree bears leaves, normally it also produces early figs. It was unusual for a fig tree to have leaves at that time of year. But since it had leaves, Jesus rightly expected to find figs on it. The fact that the tree had borne only leaves meant that it would be unproductive. Its appearance was deceptive. Since fruit trees were taxed, an unfruitful tree was an economic burden and needed to be cut down.

Jesus used that unfruitful fig tree to illustrate a vital lesson regarding faith. The following day, his disciples were surprised to see that the tree had already withered. Jesus explained: “Have faith in God, All the things you pray and ask for have faith that you have practically received, and you will have them.” In addition to illustrating the need to pray in faith, the withered fig tree graphically showed what would happen to a nation lacking faith.

Some months earlier Jesus had compared the Jewish nation to a fig tree that had been unfruitful for three years and would be cut down if it remained unproductive. By cursing the fig tree just four days before his death, Jesus showed how the Jewish nation had not produced fruits befitting repentance and thus was in line for destruction. Though that nation, like the fig tree, superficially appeared healthy, a closer look revealed a lack of faith that culminated in the rejection of Jesus..

Like the unproductive fig tree that looked healthy, the Jewish nation had a deceptive outward appearance. But it had not produced godly fruitage, and it finally rejected Jehovah’s own Son. Jesus cursed the sterile fig tree, and on the following day, the disciples noticed that it had already withered. That dried-up tree aptly signified God’s forthcoming rejection of the Jews as his chosen people. Mark 11:20, 21.
Reply:From what I understand as I read it Jesus was hungry the next morning and as they approached the fig tree being that it was not in season (too early for figs) he hoped to find some fruit but realised it was too early they had not bloomed and was just telling his disciples that as life would have it we would have to wait for them to bloom, sure he could have made ripe figs appear but chose not to do it and maybe that's what he meant by saying "NO MAN EAT FRUIT OF THEE HEREAFTER FOREVER"Perhaps through their journey Jesus provided food for the deciples and wanted to teach them the lesson that they need to understand that it will have to be a process with time and seasons,to depend on the earth to prepare the figs and not his gifts.

Jesus was a teacher so I think he used the fig tree as an example to teach the disciples a lesson. I dont think he was looking for un seasoned fig per say.

again I think Jesus took this one fig tree and used it as a visual teaching tool to better help the disciples understand. my opinion was, it stated "it was in the way" and since it hadn't beared fruit due to the season he made it wither away so as to be removed from the path they traveled, just as we remove trees to make a road. there for I dont believe he cursed the tree. I can't explain why Mark and Matthew have differences as to before or afterwards, I guess since two different people are telling their version of the situation, they tell it as they believe it to be or how it was revealed to them. ?

I feel that Jesus was an exceptional teacher of things and I also feel that he was good at making a point...I don't feel that he was showing off his powers if that were the case I think God would have removed them form him. I believe the point of the story was to let them know that God gave us this earth and that we should learn to trust god's way for us and have faith that year after year all things to bloom will as they are made to do. It is written there for we should have faith. I hope this was of some help to you like Mark and Luke everyone understands things differently,maybe my perspective will shed some light for you.

Your Blessed!
Reply:MARK 11

12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:

13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.

14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.

THE FOLLOWING is from MATTHEW HENRY COMMENTARY:

I trust this helps:

Here is Christ's cursing the fruitless fig-tree. He had a convenient resting-place at Bethany, and therefore thither he went at resting-time; but his work lay at Jerusalem, and thither therefore he returned in the morning, at working-time; and so intent was he upon his work, that he went out from Bethany without breakfast, which, before he was gone far, he found the want of, and was hungry (Mark 11:12), for he was subject to all the sinless infirmities of our nature. Finding himself in want of food, he went to a fig-tree, which he saw at some distance, and which being well adorned with green leaves he hoped to find enriched with some sort of fruit. But he found nothing but leaves; he hoped to find some fruit, for though the time of gathering in figs was near, it was not yet; so that it could not be pretended that it had had fruit, but that it was gathered and gone; for the season had not yet arrived. Or, He found none, for indeed it was not a season of figs, it was no good fig-year. But this was worse than any fig-tree, for there was not so much as one fig to be found upon it, though it was so full of leaves. However, Christ was willing to make an example of it, not to the trees, but to the men, of that generation, and therefore cursed it with that curse which is the reverse of the first blessing, Be fruitful; he said unto it, Never let any man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever, Mark 11:14. Sweetness and good fruit are, in Jotham's parable, the honour of the fig-tree (Judges 9:11), and its serviceableness therein to man, preferable to the preferment of being promoted over the trees; now to be deprived of that, was a grievous curse. This was intended to be a type and figure of the doom passed upon the Jewish church, to which he came, seeking fruit, but found none (Luke 13:6,7); and though it was not, according to the doom in the parable, immediately cut down, yet, according to this in the history, blindness and hardness befel them (Romans 11:8,25), so that they were from henceforth good for nothing. The disciples heard what sentence Christ passed on this tree, and took notice of it. Woes from Christ's mouth are to be observed and kept in mind, as well as blessings.

Do you prefer.... BOXERS, BRIEFS, OR FIG LEAVES?

There were only 23,104 questions asked on Yahoo answers so far about this timeless question. So now I added a third catergory for all of you 16th century painters. So which is it? Boxers, briefs, or fig leaf's (rhymes with briefs better if I spell it that way)? I have to wear all three to cover up my big chief.

Do you prefer.... BOXERS, BRIEFS, OR FIG LEAVES?

If Jesus asked you for a fig, would you give him one?

Also, I just ate a pack of FIg Newtons... does that mean I'm going to Hell?

http://www.godhatesfigs.com/

If Jesus asked you for a fig, would you give him one?
Okay, there are three mediterranean meanings for a fig. Only one is edible, though I suppose if asked, I'd try to oblige.

As for fig newtons, you must share the next package with me.

Buwahahahahaah
Reply:yes, I'd give him one and no, you're not going to hell. he was pissed at the TREE, not the fruit
Reply:Yes, I'm afraid it does mean you're going to Hell. Sorry kid, you knew the rules.

Praise me, amen.
Reply:Yes - if he were Jesus Christ I would give him what he asked for. Fig trees are the only trees that give fruit all year (when in the right climate)... These scriptures (the ones I saw at Godhatesfigs.com) are simply para-dimes for Christians... The Fig is analogous to works that are profitable in God's eyes. (very eatable!) The trees and/or limbs that produce no fruit/grapes etc. are cut off so that the new limbs may produce fruit, i.e (works that are profitable in God's eyes). It's only logical.
Reply:You need to be converted.
Reply:Yes
Reply:That's absurd. God would ask for an acorn. Or a pine nut. Or maybe a few Xanax.
Reply:you rule!
Reply:Sure. I don't really enjoy figs.

Reply:mabe after ive digested it, if hes lucky
Reply:yes and most likely because their not a cookie it's fruit and cake!!!
Reply:No, but I would buy him a cheeseburger and a coke.
Reply:I would give anyone a fig, cuase I don't like them anyway.
Reply:I would give him whatever he wanted, and tell him, "Thanks for taking one for the team." Them me and Jesus would high five, have a beer, and play video games.

I wanna kick it with him before he gets all busy with the rapture, you know.
Reply:Hmmmm, A fig, according to the Partridge Dictionary of the Underworld , is a very inferior sort of counterfeit money. So who ends up with what is going to be on the mooch.
Reply:LOL, great site. News flash, Jesus is dead, so I would not give him a fig since how would He eat it?
Reply:If it were my last and only fig, I would give him it.

Matthew 7:6-12 (ASB) *editing mine,

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before the swine, lest haply they trample them under their feet, and turn and rend you.

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 for every one that *[asks receives]; and he that *[seeks finds]; and to him that *[knocks] it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; 10 or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

12 All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.

This sums it up I think.
Reply:Sure.. anything he asks I would do... and no, you are not going to hell cause you ate figs lol

Can I do anything to a fig tree to make it stop bearing fruit?

The fig tree is an old established tree that produces wonderful shade ... BUT ... it makes a terrible mess when the fruit drops all over the ground.

Can I do anything to a fig tree to make it stop bearing fruit?
There is nothing you can do to prevent it from setting fruit.

A U-tube open at both ends is partially filled with water (Fig. P9.80a).?

A U-tube open at both ends is partially filled with water (Fig. P9.80a). Oil ( = 810 kg/m3) is then poured into the right arm and forms a column L = 4.00 cm high (Fig. P9.80b).

Figure P9.80 http://www.webassign.net/sf/p9_80.gif

(a) Determine the difference, h, in the heights of the two liquid surfaces. Assume that the density of air is 1.29 kg/m3.

cm

(b) The right arm is then shielded from any air motion while air is blown across the top of the left arm until the surfaces of the two liquids are at the same height (Fig. 9.80c). Determine the speed of the air being blown across the left arm.

m/s

A U-tube open at both ends is partially filled with water (Fig. P9.80a).?
1. The pressure is proportional to the height h of the column of liquid and its specific weight.

P=gph where

g - acceleration due to gravity

p- density

2. The pressure must be equal on ether side of the open tube

This all you need

Oh yes and the equation describing the state

P1= P2+P2

P1- pressure on the left (water only)

P2- pressure of water on the right

P3 -pressure of oil on the right

we have

gph1= gph2+gp'h3 where

p and p' are densities of water and oil respectively

or

ph1= gph2+gp'L

a) So we have to find

h=h1- (h2+L)

and since h1= ph2+p'L then

ph1 - ph2 = p'L

h1-h2=(p'/p)L now we have

h=(p'/p)L -L

h=L(p'/p) -1)

h=4(810/1000 -1)= - .79 cm (the negative sight suggests that h is higher than h1

b) Here you you employ Bernoulli's principle. The caped end on the right is at pressure of 1 atm the open end will experience lower pressure due to air movement. The speed is inversely proportional to pressure can be computed hence.

The original form of Bernoulli's equation is:

v^2/2 + gh + P/p=const.

where:

v = fluid velocity at a point on a streamline

g = acceleration due to gravity

h = height of the point on the streamline

P= pressure at the point on the streamline

p= density of the fluid at all points on the streamline

v^2/2 + gh1 + P/p=v^2/2 + gh2 + P/p

since the right end is capped.

v^2/2 + gh1 + P1/p= gh2 + P2/p

v=sqrt( g(h2 -h1) +( P2 - P1)/p)

h2-h1= L

P2-P1= mp'L

this is it!

Anton Fig has been wearing the same hat (?) every show nonstop for years. I've never seen him with any other headwear but for that particular hat. Does anyone know what it is called and if it has any special meaning; religious, social, or other?

In the circuit shown in Fig. 19-69, the 33 ohms resistor dissipates 0.44 W. What is the battery voltage?
If the 33-ohm resistor dissipates 0.44W, the current is given by W = I^2*R, so I = √[W/R] = √[0.44/33] = 0.115A

The overall resistance of the circuit is 33 + (68*75)/(68+75) = 33 + 35.6 = 68.66 ohm The voltage is then 68.66*0.115 = 7.9V
Reply:Calculate the total resistance of the circuit.

Rt = R1 + [R2 * R3/ R2 + R3]

Rt = 33 + [68*75/ 68 + 75]

Rt = 33 + 5100/143

Rt = 33 + 35∙664 335 6...Ω

Rt = 68∙664 335 66...Ω

33Ω = 0∙44w

1 Ω = 0∙44/ 33

1Ω = 0∙013 333 333...w

35∙664 335 6......Ω = (35∙664 335 6......)( 0∙013 333 333...)

35∙664 335 6......Ω = 0∙475 524 474...w

P = V²/R

V² = PR

V = √(PR)

Total voltage:

Vt = √(P1R1) + √(P2R2)

Vt = √(0∙44)(33) + √(0∙475 524 474...)(35∙664 335 6...)

Vt = 3∙810 511... + 4∙118 162 632...

Vt = 7∙928 674 409...

Vt ≈ 7∙93v

What is the newton in fig newtons?

on a side note, do you have a recipe for homemade fig newtons?

What is the newton in fig newtons?
Originally, the Fig Newton was just called the Newton. There is an old rumor that James Henry Mitchell, the funnel machine's inventor, named the cookies after that great physicist, Sir Isaac Newton, but that was just a rumor.

Recipe:

Ingredients

1 lb dried figs or

2 lbs fresh figs

1 cup sugar

1 cup water(1 c. for dried figs, 1/2 c. for fresh)

1/2 cup butter, room temp

1 cup sugar

1 large egg

1 tablespoon cream or milk

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 3/4 cups flour

Directions

Dice figs, soak in water 1 hour.

Add sugar %26amp; cook on medium heat until of thin jam consistency.

Beat sugar, butter, egg, milk %26amp; vanilla until well blended.

Add dry ingredients.

Mix well and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Place 1/2 on well floured dough cloth; knead about 6 times.

Roll out to 1/4" thick. Line 13 x 9" glass baking dish; cover with figs.

Roll remaining dough, cover figs. Cook at 350° for 30 minutes.

Let cool and cut into squares. Depending on the size you cut you can get a couple dozen cookies.

and what is cup size in female fig. like a.b.c.d . Pl suggest me i am just curious to know for my knowledge . when i chat on net then female friend do give their size like that

If any girl says her fig. is 32 . 28 . 34 . Then what it means?
Those are measurements of her body in inches. Bust size is found from the measurement under the bust, adding 5, and then the measurement around the widest part of the bust. Girls usually don't give out their actual bra size in measurements like this, rather it is their underbust measurement I would assume, though it could also be the over bust. The greater the difference between the first/last and the middle the bigger her boobs and hips are going to seem.
Reply:its inches

How do you get a fig tree to fruit in San Francisco?

I'm trying grow a fig tree in San Francisco (Osborne Prolific) and it hasn't fruited. Has anyone had success with it?

How do you get a fig tree to fruit in San Francisco?
Just ask, there are lots of figging fruits in San Fran. Sorry, sometimes I just can't help myself. RScott
Reply:Something must be wrong with your tree. The fig is actually a case for the flowers. The flowers are polinated by a fig wasp which enters the fig. Even without fig wasps, the tree should produce the fig.
Reply:You shouldn't have a problem finding "fruits" in San Francisco!!!!
Reply:In Texas - I use miracle grow sparingly - my figs are "Celestial" (when mature they show green but they are eatable) I also have "Brown turkey" (taste like mollasses with fruit taste.

(both delicious)

Keep the soil damp, but do not flood.

Resist triming the lower branches, so you can harvest them easily. good luck and be patient.
Reply:If you are on the pennisula you may not get enough heat. And the fog doesn't help.

Try a thick mulch to hold the heat in the soil. maybe gravel or ground up old tires.
Reply:Make sure your fig tree is getting plenty of sun they don't do well in a shady spot. my fig tree is about 20 years old it bares fruit every year I live in the midwest zone 5 it freexe back to the ground every year comes back up in the spring fine. I have found over the years that ants are my biggest problem with figs. try placing some cinnamon sticks around the base of the tree seems to repel then quuite well

Why did Jesus curse a fig tree for being out of seasaon?

Honestly, like he had no one better to rebuke at that time. And don't say because he was hungry - dude made his own food more than once in the Bible.

Poor, innocent defenseless fig tree. Big, bad Jesus proving his masculinity to his boys.

Why did Jesus curse a fig tree for being out of seasaon?
I think you are way off. This was nothing to do with arrogant behaviour.

The fig tree is an allegorical way of referring to Israel in the Old Testament. In another gospel passage now unfortunately changed, Jesus talks about John being a leaf**. When the leaf (John) appeared, he said that those who followed his teaching would need to bear the fruits of repentance otherwise they would be cut down***. So when Jesus looked for, but saw no fruit on the real fig tree he cursed it and it died. This was a sign to Israel of what would happen to them because they did not respond well to John's message.

Jesus spoke more through his actions than his words, but few people understand that language.
Reply:Maybe that is why christian conservatives hate nature, because jesus did.
Reply:(No, the fig tree represented the nation of Isreal)
Reply:Because when the Lord comes back to judge it will be out of season for most. We should always be ready and bearing fruit for the Lord.
Reply:It was not out of season, it had no fruit. Jesus knew the seasons, He wasn't stupid. He went to the tree expecting it to have fruit because it should have had fruit at that time of the year.

The fig tree is a symbol (type) of Israel.
Reply:Poor tree. No wonder he had a big cross stapled on his back.
Reply:Aaaaaa....even I could beat up a fig tree.... if I wanted to?
Reply:God hates figs!

Why and when did the fig-leaf enter Western art ?

This was of course only one of a variety of devices of concealment : scabbards, swords, swirling drapery, shadows ... veiling devices one and all. As far as I know the fig-leaf came into its own in the 18th century. It's certainly a feature of French Revolutionary sculpture. I'd offer two explanations - one banal, the other less obvious. The banal explanation appeals to modesty and decorum, which found final and grotesque expression in Victorian England. The other, less obvious and more psychologically speculative, is that the penis - a flabby, dangling and vulnerable object - is a pretty pathetic symbol of the power of patriarchy and of masculine potency. The phallus is another matter, of course.

Why and when did the fig-leaf enter Western art ?
I'm not sure of the "when" . . . but the "Why" is the reading given in some translations of Genesis. That Adam %26amp; Eve sewed clothes from fig leaves. One popular allegorical understanding that flows from this is that the fig-leaf is a symbol of lost innocence.

Reply:I grew up in a little town in Central California and down at the end of our long driveway (I grew up on a Ranch) was the BIGGEST fig tree I have ever seen...we used to eat purple almost black figs all Summer long,they were about the size of a tennis ball...they were soooooo Goooood...but I haven't seen any around in years...during the Summer, try fresh fruit/vegetable stands. They might have them.
Reply:Yes. They are beautiful as long as they are ripe enough. I ate one last month which was bought from a big fruit and veg shop in the city. I'm not sure when they are in season.
Reply:I eat raw figs during the summer. I rarely see them at American supermarkets, however I usually see them at Asian markets once the weather gets warmer. Good stuff.

What is wrong with a fig tree when the ends of the leaves turn brown?

I have a fig tree and the ends of its leaves have just started to turn brown. What does this mean and what can i do to help it?

What is wrong with a fig tree when the ends of the leaves turn brown?
There may not be enough moisture in the air. You can mist it to raise humidity. Also, you can leave your wet clothes to air dry in your home. It's good for you too.

Did Jesus chop down a fig tree? Why? Can I chop down that Christian tree of life?

I've decided my religious believes incorporate worshipping a fig tree. I think it only fair, the CHristian God chopped down my God, so now I get to chop down their tree of life.

Fair is fair.

Reperations!

Did Jesus chop down a fig tree? Why? Can I chop down that Christian tree of life?
It's lovely to see so many Christians on here whose senses of metaphor haven't quite developed! "He din' chop it, he cursed it". This is the problem with literal rendering of text. See, everyone, Jesus "chopped" down the fig BY cursing it! Ahhhh, you see? Eureka! Congratulations! This has been your first lesson in the use of metaphor.!

When the Christain tree of life gets knocked down I guarantee more peace on this earth. Chop that tree, Sean. Those bast*rds! They killed... well, they killed a lot of people in the name of God and I'm sure Kenny was one of 'em!
Reply:Jesus didn't chop down he fig tree---he cursed it to death for not having fruit on it when he was hungry.
Reply:Jesus - did NOT chop down a fig tree.

You are continuing to show your ignorance.
Reply:Sorry, but Jesus cursed the fig tree and it withered.

More power to you if you can do likewise to the tree of life. Pardon me if I don't hold my breath, though.
Reply:Jesus didn't chop down anything. What are you talking about?
Reply:Yeah Jesus chopped down a fig tree while nobody else was around. But the real quesiton is, did it make a noise?

Or maybe he made a fig fall on Isaac Newton's head, and therefore Jesus should be credited with inventing physics? Or at least for "Fig Newtons"?
Reply:He said "I chopped down the tree... I cannot tell a lie!"

Wait... I get the feeling someone ELSE may have said that...

Eh, whatever.

How much fetilizer for a fig tree?

fertilizer for a young fig tree for optimal production of fruit

How much fetilizer for a fig tree?
Regular fertilizing of figs is usually necessary only for potted trees or when they are grown on sands. Excess nitrogen encourages foliage growth at the expense of fruit production. Any fruit that is produced often ripens improperly. (((Fertilize a fig tree if the branches grew less than a foot the previous year.))) Apply a total of 1/2 - 1 pound of actual nitrogen, divided into three or four applications beginning in late winter or early spring and ending in July.

Why did Jesus curse a fig tree?

Yeah no fig's, but it was out of season for the plant.

Maybe there is more meaning to this story then we are left to believe.

Could one theory be that, if a female bears no fruit she is useless and better off to wither and die?

I'm just trying to understand the significance of this story.

Why did Jesus curse a fig tree?
because god hates figs.

The fig tree is a parable about rejecting the Jews. Even though the "season" was not right for the return of the messiah, they were supposed to be ready anyway, but they weren't ready, so they were rejected. The same message is repeated in other parables.

Reply:No it has nothing to do with women but with Christians in general. Jesus cursed the fig tree because it wasn't bearing any fruit therefore it was useless. Just like a Christian that doesn't do anything for God your useless so why still be there. And a little food for thought you may be cursed if you are being idle.

Fortress Investment Group LLC (NYSE:FIG), do you think it is cheap enough to buy yet at these levels?
This one popped up on my screener today. But I didn't take a close look at it. It might be a good buy at this level, but it's hard to be certain in the present enviroment. It may simply have been beaten down with all the other financial stocks, but three straight quarters of declining revenue really worries me. For that reason, and because I don't know just what it's exposure is to subprime, I passed on it. So far I'm still staying away from the financials. I think that there'll be plenty of oppurtunity to get into financials once I'm certain that it has bottomed.
Reply:I just have a problem buying a stock that is dropping now and has been dropping for awhile. Seems like things that are dropping tend to keep dropping. If it were to turn, bounce off its technical support level (right about where it is now), that would be a good sign. But, if it penetrates it, then lower prices would be natural. There are better opportunities out there. Edwards made a lot of money in their hedge funds, so if you invest with politicians, that might make a difference.

Does anyone know the contact number for FIG LipoDissolve?

I went on Fig's web site. www.fig.com and I have contacted all the numbers on there and emailed them several times? The numbers are disconnected and they haven't responded to my emails. I am currently in Nevada. And I guess they went bankrupt here. So they closed all five locations. I've heard the only one open is the one in California. They owe me money! I've been paying for NOT having their services and if I didn't pay they'll mess up my credit. Does anyone know a number that is NOT disconnected so I can contact them?

Did you Know. . .Don't read if you like Fig Newtons!?

I found this out a couple of years ago and have NEVER had a Fig Newton since.

If you made Fig Newtons for a living and you wanted to know how many insects could get into your Newtons without your getting into hot water with the FDA, you could look it up on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Food Defect Action Levels Web site. Here you would learn that fig paste is allowed to have up to 13 insect heads per 100 grams.

Like the guy said, most bug protein is actually good for you and is better than beef. I don't think I'm gonna go out and buy a cricket burger anytime soon though. Any help with a fig tree?

we planted a fig tree about 2 months ago and it doesn't look healthy. Hardly any new leaves, if any at all. The existing leaves are yellowing. It's in a fairly high alkali soil.

Any help with a fig tree?
Its probably just taking a nap. Young trees (figs 'specially) like to sleep alot.

Has it been hot and dry for you? You don't mention location/zone.

Just keep it well watered, NOT overwatered, and a little light fertilizer. It should bounch back well in the spring, if it doesn't do a little growing in the fall.
Reply:I am having the same problem. We have had a hot dry summer in my area. I like the fellows answer above. Mine did perk up a little when I mulched around it. Probably keeping the soil a little cooler, and holding some moisture.

It is slow enough so that if the fan casts a shadow,any eye movement when watching it will act as a stereoscope and ti will appear stationary. Where you from,anyway?

When is a good time to pick figs from a fig tree?

They are starting to fall from a big fig tree in my garden, but the ones I have cut into are still unripe. I'm in the UK if that helps, climate-wise.

Can I plant plum / fig trees if they have been bare rooted (exposed to elements) for 4 weeks? (Winter time)?

I am in Australia and it is winter time.

I have a plum and a fig tree that I bought commerically. They came with plastic bags around the roots. I opened the bags after I bought them intending to plant the trees immediately. However, that never happened and I ended up leaving them sitting like that in my backyard.

Will they survive or has it been too much for them? I realise they are dormant at this time of year (winter).

Thanks,

redcattledogblue

Can I plant plum / fig trees if they have been bare rooted (exposed to elements) for 4 weeks? (Winter time)?
Are you kidding............................ A whole month, bare rooted, just laying, freezing their nuts off; How do they look? OK, I'll stop making fun! Take a knife blade, or something semi sharp, your finger nail, or even the edge of a coin and scrape the tree trunk about 2-inches. What does the inside of the slash look like? Is it green, and at all moist looking? Was it hard to scrape and dry inside? Any moisture at all? Tap that trunk with your implement, does it sound hard like Tap, tap,tap like hard wood, or soft, your call! go up, to the branches and give them a little scrape and resonating test, I think you will find they are hard and stick like, if so pitch it , it's history......Ahe good luck to u mate, Urlaroo to you too!
Reply:You can--but they have a high chance of dying if the roots got too dried out. Plant them anyway, give them lots of water and keep your fingers crossed.

What's up with Fig Newtons?

When did a Fig Newton become "the cookie that thinks it's a fruit"? I always thought that "it's not a cookie; it's fruit and cake."

What's up with Fig Newtons?
You just can't trust those darn Newtons anymore, can you? They're always so ambiguous:

(irritating squeaky voice)

"I'm a cookie!...No wait, I wanna be a fruitcake......Wait a second, cookies get a better market value....I can't decide!"
Reply:Ha, therein lies the rub. They wanted you to think it was fruit and cake but it thought it was a cookie so it sneaks up and surprises you and you're like "whoa! This fruit and cake thinks it's a cookie so maybe it is" and then you're thinking it's a cookie but you know it thinks its fruit and cake when you're thinking it's a cookie and then one day "SMACK" you get it.

Got it?
Reply:i don't like fig newtons but all they are is like a fruity jelly something in the center and a chewy cakey cookie around it. nothing special.
Reply:I don't know but they're NASTY X__x

What other creeping vine can I use besides "creeping fig" plant ? Preferably with small flowers.?

I planted creeping fig to cover a large cinder block wall about 8 years ago. I really liked the way the creeping fig grew nice and tight to the wall.

I've seen it at the same nursery I bought the creeping fig. I can't remember what its called.

Help for my Weeping Fig!?

I know that sounds a bit rude...but its a genuine plea for a 3 year old plant that keeps dropping leaves. They go yellow first then drop. It is growing new leaves too. Is it normal for a weeping fig to drop leaves?

Help for my Weeping Fig!?
It is a very popular house plant in temperate areas, due to its elegant growth and tolerance of poor growing conditions; it does best under bright, sunny conditions but will also tolerate considerable shade. It requires a moderate amount of watering in summer, and only enough to keep it from drying out in the winter. It does not need to be misted. The plant is sensitive to cold and should be protected from strong drafts. When grown indoors, it can grow too large for its situation, and may need drastic pruning or replacing.

The leaves are very sensitive to small changes in light. When it is re-located it reacts by dropping many of its leaves and replacing them with new leaves adapted to the new light intensity.
Reply:Good answer...henceforth the name weeping fig. When moved it is likely to lose leaves ( the weeping effect). Report It

Reply:Most plants drop some or all their leaves depending on the seasons. Or, your fig may have gone without water.
Reply:Try the Royal Horticultural Society website - www.rhs.org.uk

this site provides excellent advice for all sorts of plants including your Weeping Fig

Good Luck
Reply:It's perfectly normal for the fig tree and many more plants to lose leaves, if it's still growing new leaves it'll be o.k. Make sure you keep it well watered.

How to look after fig trees?

Hi i bought my wife a fig tree as she as wanted one for years, but how do you look afterone we don't have a conservatory, we do have a shelterd garden , most things I try to grow die. It does have some fruit but whether they will come to anything I don't know

How to look after fig trees?
My family and I have had our fig tree for years and you want to make sure it has plenty of moisture and if you put down any mulch make sure it's hay mulch it'll help hold in the moisture to grow plump ripe figs.

Mind that once your fig tree starts getting bigger your going to get pounds and pounds of figs so to make sure that the majority of your nice ripe figs don't go bad start making and canning either fig jam, fig jellies or fig perserves it's useful once you start doing this that way whenever there is an emergency or natural disaster you have a little bit of food storage built-up. Oh and don't worry once you start canning it's sooooo much fun.
Reply:Water them, feed them in the summer. Talk to them all the time.
Reply:If its in a pot they like to be kept root bound,and prune

and tie into wires on a wall,dont overwater.tough plants.
